The Stage 280W is the largest in-wall loudspeaker in JBL's Stage Architectural range, sold as a single piece. It pairs an 8 inch polycellulose cone woofer with a 1 inch aluminium dome tweeter set in an acoustic lens and JBL's HDI waveguide. That 8 inch driver is the reason to choose it: response reaches down to 42 Hz, deeper than any other in-wall in the range, so it delivers the fuller, more powerful bass that keeps a large room from sounding thin.

It shares the clean-install approach of the rest of the range. The zero bezel metal grille sits flush with the wall or ceiling with no visible frame and can be painted to match. Behind it, a rigid baffle with acoustic smoothing and a premium crossover using air-core inductors and mylar capacitors keep the sound composed at high volume. The XL-2 installation system clamps to wall or ceiling material up to 2 inches thick, and nickel-plated spring terminals make wiring quick.
