The Stage 220P is the largest and most powerful subwoofer in JBL's Stage 2 Series, designed and engineered at Harman's Northridge acoustic centre in California and sold as a single unit. It pairs a 12 inch high excursion polycellulose ribbed cone woofer with dual rear-firing flared ports and a built-in amplifier rated at 250 watts RMS and 500 watts peak. Response reaches down to 26 Hz, the deepest in the Stage range, which is what gives it the physical impact that separates a big subwoofer from a merely adequate one.
Like the smaller 200P it is built to integrate cleanly and then disappear into the system. The rear panel carries a variable low-pass crossover from 50 to 150 Hz along with level, phase and auto power controls, so it dials in under any main speakers and drops to standby when idle. A line-level LFE input takes the subwoofer output from an AVR and bypasses the internal crossover, which is the normal home theatre connection. Magnetically attached grilles keep it tidy, and adjustable floor spikes steady it on rugs and carpet.
This product is covered by the manufacturer's warranty through JBL's authorised distributor in India. [VERIFY: confirm exact warranty term for JBL Stage 220P under Harman India before publish.]
The step from a 10 inch to a 12 inch subwoofer is not about playing louder, it is about reaching lower and moving more air. The 220P extends to 26 Hz with a 250 watt amplifier behind it, so in a large living room or a dedicated theatre it delivers the bottom octave with authority the 200P cannot match in the same space. That matters for big film soundtracks and for anyone who wants bass they feel in the chest rather than just hear. It is voiced to match the Stage range, so it partners cleanly with the 260F or 280F towers and the 245C centre, and the flexible controls and LFE input make setup a single cable from your AVR.
