JBL Stage 280C 8" In-Ceiling Speaker

The Stage 280C is the largest flat in-ceiling loudspeaker in JBL's Stage Architectural range, sold as a single piece. It uses an 8 inch polycellulose cone woofer and a 1 inch aluminium dome tweeter with an acoustic lens waveguide, mounted on a flat round baffle that fires straight down. The 8 inch woofer reaches down to 42 Hz, the deepest of any flat ceiling speaker in the range, so a pair can carry a large room with real low end without needing a subwoofer for the mid-bass.

It shares the clean-install approach of the rest of the range. The zero bezel metal grille sits flush with the ceiling with no visible frame and can be painted to match, and a rigid baffle with acoustic smoothing keeps the sound clear. A premium crossover with air-core inductors and mylar capacitors holds the sound together at volume, the XL-2 installation system clamps to ceiling material up to 2 inches thick, and at 108 mm the mounting depth stays shallow enough for most ceiling voids despite the larger driver.
