The McIntosh MC611 is a solid-state monoblock power amplifier delivering 600 watts into 2, 4 or 8 ohms. A McIntosh Autoformer output matches the amplifier to the loudspeaker so the full rated power is available at every impedance rather than falling away as the load drops, and Quad Balanced circuitry cancels much of the noise and distortion picked up along the signal path. Signal to noise ratio reaches 124 dB balanced below rated output with total harmonic distortion of 0.005%.
Over the previous 600 watt monoblock, filter capacity is doubled, lifting dynamic headroom from 1.8 dB to 2.8 dB and improving low-end performance. The revision also brings direct LED front panel backlighting, glass-topped transformer enclosures, heavier-gauge internal wiring and automatic power management. Balanced and unbalanced outputs allow bi-amping, tri-amping, feeding a second system or driving a powered subwoofer, and three sets of Solid Cinch binding posts are provided, one for each impedance.
