The Parasound Halo JC 1+ is a reference monoblock power amplifier designed by John Curl, delivering 450 watts into 8 ohms, 850 watts into 4 ohms, and over 1,300 watts into 2 ohms. It operates in pure Class A up to 25 watts and transitions to Class AB beyond that. It is sold as a single monoblock. A stereo system requires two units.
The JC 1+ is an evolution of the original JC 1, with upgrades across every critical area. Output power has increased from 400W to 450W at 8 ohms. Filter capacitance has risen from 132,000 to 198,000 microfarads across six Nichicon Gold Tune capacitors. The transformer has grown from 1.9 to 2.1 kVA. Output transistors have increased from 18 to 24 Sanken 60MHz devices. Peak current capacity is now 180 amps. Net weight has risen from 64 to 83 lbs (37.6 kg). ProHiFi is an authorised Parasound dealer in India.
John Curl's new cascode driver stage, FR-408 input circuit board material for improved high-frequency signal integrity, Bybee Music Rails active noise filters, and a selectable gain switch (29dB or 23dB) are all new to the Plus. The input circuit board is shielded, output and power supply circuit boards use double-thickness copper, and all internal audio signal path connectors are gold-plated.
Stereophile listed the JC 1+ as a Recommended Component in 2024 and John Atkinson described its dynamics as extraordinary and its high frequencies as smooth and clean, more like a good tube amplifier. The Absolute Sound concluded that the JC 1+ comes so close to the best in so many categories that for more than a few listeners it may seem pointless to look elsewhere. TONEaudio stated they had yet to hear a pair of solid-state amplifiers offering anywhere near this much sonic excellence for anywhere near the price. Secrets of Home Theater named it Best Monoblock Power Amplifier 2020.

Why Consider the Parasound Halo JC 1+
The JC 1+ is the right choice for listeners who want a reference-level monoblock power amplifier that is stable into any speaker load, delivers pure Class A warmth at normal listening levels, and has the current reserve to handle the most demanding dynamic peaks without compression. The Absolute Sound, Stereophile, TONEaudio, and Secrets of Home Theater have all independently concluded that the JC 1+ performs at a level far above its price point. With 180 amps of peak current, a damping factor above 1200, and stability into impedance dips below 1 ohm, it will get the best from any loudspeaker it is partnered with. For an Indian audiophile building the most capable two-channel system possible, a pair of JC 1+ monoblocks driven by a JC 2 BP or JC 3+ represents Parasound's ultimate expression.
Ideal for
- Reference two-channel systems wanting maximum power, current, and Class A headroom
- Demanding speaker loads with impedance dips below 2 ohms
- Systems pairing with the Parasound JC 2 BP preamplifier or JC 3+ phono stage
- Bi-wiring configurations using the dual CHK Infinium binding posts per channel
- Listeners who value selectable gain (29dB/23dB) for system matching flexibility
- Home cinema front channels needing reference-grade monoblock amplification
