The Parasound Halo JC 3+ is a dual-mono MM and MC phono preamplifier designed by John Curl, the creator of the legendary Vendetta Research phono preamp. It is an all-analog design with separate extruded aluminium enclosures for each audio channel, triple shielding with low-carbon mild steel partitions, and balanced XLR plus RCA outputs.
MC cartridge loading is continuously variable from 50 to 550 ohms, with a fixed 47k ohm setting also available. MM loading is fixed at 47k ohms. RIAA correction is accurate to within 0.2dB, and the signal path uses exclusively Vishay-Dale resistors. Gain is 48dB for MM and 64dB for MC. ProHiFi is an authorised Parasound dealer in India.
A built-in mono switch improves the sound of mono and older LPs. An AC line conditioner prevents mains noise from reaching the circuits, and an AC polarity reverse switch can reduce hum in systems where the wall socket orientation is unknown. Each channel has its own separate high-speed soft-recovery rectifiers, filter capacitors, and voltage regulators.
The Absolute Sound gave it a Golden Ear Award in 2025, describing its combination of profound silence and kick-butt energy as addictive. Stereophile listed it as a Recommended Component in 2024 and 2025, with Brian Damkroger calling it superb at both frequency extremes and as close to neutral as any component he had heard. HiFi News UK called it an exceptional product, noting they had heard few better designs at any price.

Why Consider the Parasound Halo JC 3+
The JC 3+ is the right choice for vinyl listeners who want a reference-level phono stage that handles both MM and MC cartridges with the kind of silence, transparency, and dynamic range that John Curl's circuit designs are known for. The continuously variable MC loading from 50 to 550 ohms gives precise matching to virtually any low-output moving coil cartridge on the market. Stereophile described it as being as close to neutral as any component they had heard, and The Absolute Sound called it the best phono preamp they had experienced in their system. The dual-mono construction, triple shielding, and balanced XLR outputs ensure that the signal arriving at the preamplifier or amplifier is as clean and noise-free as the record allows. For an Indian audiophile serious about vinyl, the JC 3+ is an outstanding long-term investment.
Ideal for
- Serious vinyl listeners wanting reference-level MM and MC phono preamplification
- Low-output MC cartridge owners needing variable loading from 50 to 550 ohms
- Systems requiring balanced XLR output from the phono stage
- Mono LP collectors benefiting from the dedicated mono switch
- Systems pairing with the Parasound JC 2 BP preamplifier and JC 5 or JC 1+ power amplifiers
- Installations where AC mains quality is variable and a built-in line conditioner is valuable
