The Primare DD15 is a dedicated CD transport from Sweden's Primare 15 Series. It uses a low-resonance Philips slot-loading drive mechanism and a low-noise digital output stage, delivering a pure digital signal via RCA coaxial and Toslink optical outputs to any external DAC or digital input.

The DD15 contains no internal DAC or analogue output stage. This is a deliberate design choice. By dedicating the entire chassis, power supply, and circuit layout to the single task of reading a disc and outputting a clean digital signal, Primare keeps the transport free from the noise and interference that a built-in conversion stage would introduce. In a 15 Series system, the DD15 is the reference disc source. Paired with the SC15 Prisma MK2 as the DAC and preamplifier, it forms the highest-performance digital front end the 15 Series offers, with the SC15's Prisma platform handling all streaming duties independently. RS232, 12V trigger, and IR in/out connections allow full control system integration and linked power-on with companion components.

HiFi+ reviewed the DD15 as part of a complete 15 Series system with the SC15 Prisma, I15 MM, and R15, concluding that all options sound good regardless of how the system is assembled, and noting the flexibility of the 15 Series approach.
