The Michi P5 is a stereo control preamplifier built around dual AKM 32-bit/768 kHz DACs feeding a Class A preamplifier stage. Total harmonic distortion is held below 0.002%, and a line-level signal to noise ratio of 116 dB reflects a fully balanced signal path from input to output.

Both moving magnet and moving coil phono inputs are built in, alongside coaxial and optical digital inputs, PC-USB with MQA and DSD support, and aptX and AAC Bluetooth. RS232 and Ethernet ports allow the P5 to integrate with home automation systems, and Roon Tested certification confirms compatibility with networked playback software.

Why Consider the Michi P5

The P5 sits below the Prestige P430 in the Michi hierarchy while keeping a fully balanced Class A topology, and adds a switchable moving coil phono stage the P430 does not offer. For a vinyl-focused system using low-output moving coil cartridges, the built-in step-up removes the need for an outboard phono stage entirely, while the dual-DAC digital section keeps two independent conversion paths available for different source types.
