The Sonus Faber Sonetto VIII G2 is the largest floorstanding model in the second generation Sonetto collection, a three-way design using a 1.1 inch DAD Arrow Point tweeter, a 6.5 inch Camelia midrange and two 8 inch woofers. Frequency response runs from 33 Hz to 40,000 Hz with 90 dB sensitivity into a 4 ohm nominal load, and crossover points sit at 350 Hz and 2,500 Hz.
The Camelia midrange was first developed for Suprema and works inside a sealed cork chamber with an organic shape and no parallel walls, which is where much of the generation two change lies. The woofers use paper pulp sandwich cones with flower-patterned surrounds and an organic basket, loaded in a down-vented enclosure, with an aluminium demodulation ring controlling distortion. The tweeter carries a copper shorting ring and the midrange a copper shorting cap. Each cabinet is built at Sonus Faber's factory in Vicenza, Italy, and is available in Walnut, Wenge and Gloss Black.

Why Consider the Sonus Faber Sonetto VIII G2
Two 8 inch woofers and a dedicated 6.5 inch midrange give the Sonetto VIII the scale that the smaller models in the range cannot reach, which matters in a large room where a two-way or single-woofer design runs out of bass before it runs out of level. The sealed cork midrange chamber keeps the woofers' pressure away from the midrange entirely, so voices stay clean when the bass is working hard. At 90 dB sensitivity it is not difficult to drive, and the 50 to 400 watt range accommodates most quality amplifiers rather than demanding a specialist one.
